We have 20 computers available for our students in the library. Students are given permission by their teachers to come to the library to use the computers. Large class computer tutoring is done by Mrs. Porras in the computer area.
Books are checked out to students for a period of 2 weeks. They renew their books as needed. Kindergarten and 1st grades check out 1 book each. The 2nd and 3rd grades check out 2 books each, and the 4th grade students check out 3 books each.
Our library is on a flex schedule which is open for student checkout for most of the day. When classes are scheduled into the library the library is closed for the purpose of allowing those students who are using the library to have a more conducive atmosphere for study. Students can come either as a whole class to checkout their books, or teachers may send two to three students at a time to check out books. each day.The library is not available for checkout during our Reading First 90 minutes of uninterrupted reading which is in the early morning.
Programs & Activities:
Many programs such as MacGruff the Crime Dog and a fire safety program take place in the library. We usually have one book fair each school year. The library is also where our students work together to have older students read to younger students. Our library is also used for tutoring, for volunteers to read for our students and for various activities throughout the year.
